This clinic operates with student therapists who are undergoing RMT training. All sessions are supervised by a Registered Massage Therapist, and the student will provide therapeutic, safe, and effective massage treatments.
National Institute Student Massage Clinic
Client Service Agreement
Welcome to the National Institute Student Massage Clinic.
All massage treatments in this facility are provided by student therapists completing their Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) training. Every session is supervised by a Registered Massage Therapist, ensuring treatments are therapeutic, safe, and effective.
The following Service Agreement Rules apply to all clients and are provided before booking so that you fully understand the expectations and policies of the clinic.
1. Student Clinic Environment
Please remember that this is a student learning environment. Treatments are performed by students who are training to become Registered Massage Therapists, under the direct supervision of an RMT.
2. Mandatory Intake, Assessment, and Self-Care
Each appointment includes a required intake interview, assessment, treatment, and self-care instructions.
Students are mandated to complete all these steps for their training.
Please allow up to 30 minutes in addition to your treatment time so students can complete their full process. You will always receive your complete booked treatment.
3. Fair Student Rotation Policy
To ensure equal learning opportunities:
Clients may see the same student a maximum of two (2) times, after which rotation is required.
Clients cannot repeatedly choose the same student.
Accommodations can be made for religious, cultural, or comparable needs, but rotation must still occur.
This ensures fairness within the teaching environment.
4. Teaching Clinic Supervision
As part of student education, the clinical supervisor and clinical assistants may briefly enter the treatment room during your session. Their visit is short and purposeful, focused on evaluating student performance and ensuring treatment plans are followed.
You may request to speak directly with the clinical instructor if you have questions about your treatment.
If you prefer not to have clinical assistants accompany the instructor, you may opt out. While participation is encouraged to support learning, the choice is entirely yours.
5. Zero-Tolerance Policy for Misconduct
The clinic does not tolerate:
Fraud
Sexual misconduct
Physical violence
If such behaviour occurs (or anything similar), the clinic may take immediate action, including dismissal from the clinic.
If inappropriate behaviour is initiated by a student or staff member, you must report it immediately to the clinical instructor or administration so it can be addressed promptly.
6. English-Only Communication Requirement
Students must communicate in English only to maintain fairness and consistency in training.
Clients who require language support may bring a translator.
We respectfully request clients to communicate in English whenever possible.
7. Fees and Payments
First visit: Free
Follow-up visits are $35 to $45, depending on treatment length (60, 75, or 90 minutes)
Payment methods: cash, debit, e-transfer, and credit card
Credit card payments include a small processing fee required by the Institute
8. First Visit Requirements — Intake Form Policy
All new clients must arrive 5–10 minutes early to complete intake forms.
No Intake Form = No Treatment
If forms are not completed, the clinic reserves the right to cancel the appointment immediately.
This ensures therapists have essential health information for safe, ethical treatment.
9. Treatment Booking and Scope of Care
Clients will be scheduled with the first available student therapist to maintain fairness and equal learning opportunities for all students. While we understand that clients may develop preferences, requests for a specific student cannot be guaranteed and may not always be accommodated.
Massage therapy may assist with various conditions, including stress, pain, mood concerns, anxiety, sleep difficulties, inflammation, scarring, swelling, congestion, movement restrictions, trauma, and conditions affecting multiple body systems. Treatment outcomes may vary and are not guaranteed. All services are provided by student therapists working within the scope of their training and under professional supervision.
10. Consent and Agreement to Terms
This Service Agreement is already active even before you book an appointment, which is why it is provided to you in advance.
By scheduling a session, you acknowledge and accept all clinic policies listed above.
These rules ensure that students are trained properly while maintaining your safety, professionalism, and confidentiality at all times.
Additional consent will be gathered during your intake interview. All information remains fully confidential.
